Good News Class

Welcome! You've found the Good News Class.

We're excited about "Enriching Lives through the Word of God!" This vision statement is our goal for carrying out the Halstead UMC mission--Sharing the Love of Jesus with Others." Come to fellowship with us and study the Word of God.

We're using our Bibles, any translation, as our  studyguide. We discuss  and study the Word so that we can apply it in our daily lives. Each session runs four to six weeks.

Please note. Beginning June 29 the Sunday School classes will join together in two classes for the summer.  One for adults and one inter generational class for all ages.

Can't attend regularly? No problem. We're all busy people and come when we can so that we can carry the Word of God into the home, work place, and out into the world.

In February, JoAnn Swearingen taught the Letter of James. J. Ray, retired UMC pastor and "kibitzer" assisted. We learned which New Testament James wrote the book, who the scattered tribes of Israel were, and about James' instructions for vibrant living that glorifies Jesus Christ.

On Sunday, March 9, Ralph McKay launched our next session, the Book of Job, where we learned about the perseverance of Job, and how to react to peer pressure!

On Sunday, June 1, JoAnn & J. Ray Swearingen began a study on the Letter of Ephesians. This study will continue until June 22. Ephesians is  about the mystery of God, our inheritance, spiritual warfare and walking with God on a daily basis. Wow!

Bring your Bible any Sunday morning at 9:30 in the room located north of the kitchen, for study, fellowship and a great cup of coffee thanks to Keith Sundbye who brews the liquid up fresh. If you don't drink coffee, that's okay, too.

To guide you, adult classes have signs outside each door in the fellowship area.
